Update-"Two Years in Nashville"
Hey everyone! This is my first update in quite awhile, so we have A LOT to catch up on! My songwriting has really taken off lately. Over the past couple months I have felt more inspired to write than I ever have. I have been blessed to co-write with some extremely talented writers, and I have really been working hard at honing my craft. I have also had the opportunity to spend some more time in the studio recording demo’s that will be getting pitched to major label artists! Fingers crossed, because I am poor and could really use a cut! Haha! On top of that, I played many shows over the summer, and have really been taking the time to just become an all around better artist! My last post was a couple weeks before I released my new single “Meant for Coming Back” on iTunes. Now that it’s been a few months since the release, looking back it has been an incredible success! I just want to thank each and every one of you who took the time to listen to and purchase “Meant for Coming Back”! I have received nothing but great feedback about the song, and was very fortunate to receive radio play on several stations throughout Missouri, Iowa, and Tennessee. I also had the opportunity to gain valuable experience by participating in several more live radio interviews over the phone and in person. It’s hard to believe, but as of last week, I have now been in Nashville for two years! It seems like it has gone by so fast, but looking back I am astounded by the people I’ve met and how far I have come with my music in that short amount of time! I can’t wait to see what all year three has in store! It’s getting off to a great start, as I found out that I will be a headliner for the first time at the McCreary County Music Festival in McCreary County Kentucky on October 5th and 6th! I have a feeling this year is going to be pretty eventful!
"Meant for Coming Back"
Hello friends! I thought I would check in and give you all an update on what I have been up to the last couple of months! As I had anticipated in my last post, I have been playing shows nearly every weekend throughout middle Tennessee, and I have been blessed to have my good friends Addison Johnson and Katie Basden join me for a few of them! I cannot tell you how great it feels to be doing what I love and making a good part of my living doing it! I have worked extremely hard to get to this point, and it is certainly starting to pay off. Also, as some of you may already know, I will be releasing my next iTunes/Radio single “Meant for Coming Back” on May 15th! I cannot tell you how excited I am for this single! It is such a personal song for me, and I am even more proud of the fact that it was written by my good friend Addison Johnson! I know this is a song that many of you will be able to relate to, and I know that you are all going to love it! As many of you know, my last single “Just Like Heaven” had great success with country radio, and I am extremely excited to build on that success! I am currently working on marketing the single to radio, so hopefully you will all hear “Meant for Coming Back” on your local radio station soon! As always, thank you all so much for your incredible support! This second single is truly a dream come true, and I am certain that it is a step in a positive direction for my career. Please help me spread the word, and mark your calendars for May 15th!
Great start to 2012!
Hey everyone! I know this is just a tad late, but happy new year! I wanted to take a moment and let you all know what I’ve been up to lately. I had a wonderful Christmas break and was able to make it back home to Missouri for a week at the end of December. It was great to be back with my family and get a break from music for a bit and my crazy life here in Nashville! Although admittedly, towards the end I was getting a little anxious to get back and get after it again. I am a very forward thinker and goal oriented individual, so too much time relaxing makes me feel complacent and tends to drive me just a little crazy haha. Once I got back in January I began contacting radio stations once more and had some great success. WJSQ 101.7 FM is a station out of Athens, TN, and has added me to their list of “Rising Stars”. I am incredibly blessed to be one of their featured artists on their website (See the “Radio” tab on my page for the address), and my single “Just Like Heaven” has been playing on their Sunday night program “Rising Stars” for several Sunday’s in a row now! On top of that, just this past Friday, “Just Like Heaven” was featured on “New Country at Noon” for KWWR 95.7FM out of Mexico, MO, which is the LARGEST COUNTRY STATION IN THE STATE OF MISSOURI!!! What an incredible blessing, and opportunity to have my music introduced to such a large listening area! Also here recently I have been very busy with booking shows for the coming months, so if you are near Nashville make sure to come see me! Hopefully that gives you an idea of what I have been up to this past month! I know I say this all the time, but I really feel so incredibly blessed to have the support of so many people! Thank you all for believing in me and helping to make this all possible. Each and every one of you inspires me and drives me to succeed and continue chasing my dreams! Thank you! God Bless!
Mitch Interviews!
Hey everyone! Sorry its been so long since my last post! I have been so incredibly busy with everything that I have just been trying to survive, not to mention my finals! However, even with such a hectic schedule, i still managed to make some more head way in regards to my music. The last couple months have been an exciting time with the continued progress and recogniton that my itunes single "Just Like Heaven" has received! In November I had the honor to do a few phone interviews with a handful of the stations that have been playing my single. These stations included 89.7FM "The Edge" at Baker University, 101.7FM "The Bull" out of Burlington, IA, and 95.5FM KAAN Regional Radio out of Bethany, MO. Special thanks go out to Greg, Drew, and Phil at their respective stations! What an incredible priviledge and experience it was to have the chance to share my music with each of them, as well as their listening audiences! It still amazes me at how music continues to place wonderful people in my life, and create lasting friendships and connections. I want to thank everyone who tuned in to these stations, as well as everyone who has continued to push and support me on my journey; and most of all BELIEVED IN ME! This has been an exciting year to say the least, and with the approach of 2012 i cannot help but feel excited for what the future has in store! Merry Christmas! :)
"Buy It or Burn It""Buy It or Burn It".... those words sound a bit scary right? I would have to agree, especially since it had something to do with my music! However, if any word could describe the way I felt i would have to say EXCITED, and admitedly a bit nervous as well! If none of this is making any sense to you so far, please allow me to explain. As many of you know I released my debut Itunes single "Just Like Heaven" on August 30th; and many of you also know that it has been getting radio play on a handful of stations in the midwest! Well as of yesterday, one more station has begun playing my music! I have been calling and talking with WANT FM 98.9 out of Lebanon, TN for the last couple of weeks, and i just found out yesterday morning around 11am that i would be the featured artist that afternoon on their program "Buy It or Burn It"! The program works by first picking a new single by an artist (signed or unsigned) so you could hear anything from a new single by a major artist such as Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, etc., or a new unsigned artist such as me. Then they play the song on air and people call in and let the station know what they think about it. If the majority of the people like it then it is a "Buy", however if the majority of people do not like it then it is a "Burn". So there I was driving through NASHVILLE on my way home from work when i heard my name and song start playing on the radio!!!!! Although my song has been getting radio play for awhile now back in the midwest, this was the first time that i have actually been able to hear it on a station! I am usually my toughest critic, but that was one of the most incredible moments of my life, and one i will not be forgetting anytime soon! To make the experience even better, it turns out that a TON of people called in and absolutely loved it so it was a "BUY", and i got to hear my song played again, right next to George Strait, Lady A and Carrie Underwood! Although I still have alot to accomplish to get where i want to be, I cannot help but look back at the progress I have made in just a year of pursuing my dream in Nashville! What an incredible journey it has been thus far, filled with soo many blessings and new friends! The music industry is one of the toughest industries there is, so you have to enjoy the good things whenever you can, and you can bet that i am enjoying this accomplishment! However, i realize that the next big step is going to take even more hard work, but with your continued support I know we can make it happen! Thanks to everyone of my friends, family, fans, and supporters, for believing in me! Without each and every one of you, none of this would be possible! God Bless! My First Year in Nashville
Alright everyone, this is my first time blogging so please be patient. Being a songwriter I have some natural writing abilities, so this shouldn’t be too hard right? Well I’m going to give it a try! Since it’s my first blog and I’ve officially been in Nashville for a year now, what better than to briefly tell you about my first year in Nashville. In late August of last year I packed up my bags and moved down here without knowing a single soul, and it has been hands down the best decision of my life! Big city living is a bit different than back home (especially traffic), but so far i have made the adjustment just fine. Before moving down I enrolled at Middle Tennessee State University, so my first step was moving into the dorms. I met so many wonderful people while living there, including my best friend and songwriter Addison Johnson, whom also wrote my itunes single “Just Like Heaven”. Somehow I managed to balance a full load of coursework, work, and playing music; and I officially survived another year in college! In the spring, I moved into an apartment with two of my best friends Addison and Brett! It is soooooo much better than the dorms! Anyone who has lived in a college dorm before knows the feeling of being “boxed in” for two semesters, but at least now I can say ive had the experience! I then started my You Tube account in order to be more accessible to my fans, as well as gain new fans and it has been a hit thus far! Through the summer i began preparing to record my itunes single “Just Like Heaven”, which many of you bought and I cannot thank you enough! I had an absolute blast recording it and the response I have received from you all on the song has been more than I could have ever hoped for, and has been a dream come true! A year ago if you would have told me I would have a song on itunes I would have thought you were crazy! Then to take it a step further and say it would receive radio play I really would have thought you were crazy! But it is, and I am anticipating it being on several more stations! And a special thanks also to everyone who tuned into those stations to hear it playing! I cannot thank you enough for all your support and for helping my dreams become a reality! Now with the opening of this website yet another goal I set for myself has come true! I hope you all are enjoying it as much as me, and if you have any suggestions please feel free to let me know! With hard work and help from you guys we can make year two in Nashville even better than the first!
